This policy is written in plain language on purpose. If any sentence needs a lawyer to parse, it doesn't belong here.
The short version
Nightwalk is a daily memory puzzle. Almost everything about how you play stays on your device. The only thing that ever leaves it is an anonymous entry on an optional leaderboard — never your name, email, contacts, location, or photos, and there are no ads and no tracking of any kind.
What stays on your device, and never leaves it
- Your trial log — the exact tiles and timings of every route you've played. This is only ever shared if you tap “Copy result” or “Log” yourself to paste it somewhere.
- Your span history — your last 180 days of daily scores, used to show your median and your stats curve.
- Your settings — pace, high contrast, haptics, audio, notification time.
- Your streak and Archive personal bests.
Uninstalling the app deletes all of this. There is no server backup of it, so there is nothing to also delete elsewhere.
What leaves your device — the leaderboard
If you open the Leaderboard screen, Nightwalk creates an anonymous account for your install using Firebase Authentication. This account has no name, no email, no password, and cannot be used to sign in anywhere else or to identify you personally. It exists only so the leaderboard can recognize the same install across app sessions.
Alongside that anonymous identifier, we store:
- Your median span (a number)
- Your skill league (a band derived from that number)
- A codename — a pseudonym generated automatically from your anonymous identifier, never a real name
This is stored in Google Cloud Firestore and is what powers the ranked leaderboard display. It is not linked to your name, email, device contacts, location, or any other personal information — but it is a persistent identifier associated with your play performance, which is why we're describing it here plainly rather than saying “we don't collect anything.”
If you never open the Leaderboard screen, none of this happens.
Having your leaderboard entry removed
Nightwalk does not currently have an in-app “delete my leaderboard entry” button. To have your entry removed, contact us at privacy@kalnyx.in with the approximate date you last played and we will remove it.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no ad SDKs, no advertising identifiers
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs
- No account beyond the anonymous leaderboard identifier above
- No selling or sharing of any data with third parties
- No location, contacts, camera, microphone, or photo access
Notifications
If you turn on the daily reminder, Nightwalk schedules a local notification on your device through your operating system. No notification content or token is sent to us or to any third party.
Children
Nightwalk does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The leaderboard's anonymous identifier and codename are not personal information in the traditional sense (no name, email, or other identity is attached), but if you are a parent or guardian and have concerns about your child's use of the leaderboard, contact us using the details below and we will remove the relevant entry.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of data associated with you. Since almost everything is stored only on your device, the fastest way to exercise most of these rights is simply to open Settings on your device and uninstall the app. For the leaderboard entry specifically, contact us using the details below.
Retention
- Trial logs and span history: kept locally for 180 days, then aged out automatically.
- Leaderboard entries: kept until you ask us to remove one, or until you uninstall (the entry itself isn't automatically deleted on uninstall today, since there's no server-side link to your device beyond the anonymous identifier — contact us to have it removed).
